3 of 5 Final Thoughts Series-And he said with such confidence…..
I would venture to say that throughout life, a person experiences more trials than not. If we were honest and looked back into our past, trials would be the easiest to recall. Some of us know and still remember the life we experienced before having Christ and the Spirit in us. Do you recall the pain and helplessness that came with those trials? There was nothing out, no one who could bring true comfort and peace and only by God's mercy did you get through them and yet gave no acknowledgment to God. Then there are those who have known God since childhood and have experienced trials knowing God would be faithful in their shortcomings. Either way, trials are difficult and extremely uncomfortable, and no healthy-thinking person wishes to experience the consequences of trials. Yet we are given several verses in Scripture reminding us that trials are going to happen as we journey through the world that is not meant for us. One verse that I continue to always bring to mind, and it will never get old, nor will I be complacent in hearing or telling others of it, is in the book of James. It's located in the New Testament, it's not a large book, but quite small in comparison to some of the bigger books. However, I would put the depth of the book of James against any of its larger counterparts. James says, and I will paraphrase, to consider all trials in your life as joy for this reason: that these trials will cause you to practice your faith in God, and in doing so, you will get close to Him, and in doing this, faith will persevere and overcome all situations in your life, which will produce unconditional joy of knowing that you are a child of God, and because of this, He will be faithful. One of our men in our group was sharing his story about his journey for the past several months. He spoke of how his wife had seen a drastic change in his life and told him how much she had noticed this change. His reply to her was that he was no longer going through the fire. He shared this with us with such confidence that I couldn't help but get excited for what God had shown him in giving him such confidence in his new-found life. I thought to myself, though we don't seek fires and avoid them at all costs, there will still be times that we will discover them and will have to deal with them as we pursue our true home through this journey through a foreign. But there is a difference between those who have Christ and those who don't . The difference is those who have surrendered their life to Christ will walk this journey with an eternal fire extinguisher, putting out all fires and flaming arrows that come their way. Men get right with God before the eternal trial comes your way!! Time's up!
