The world loves a trendy Jesus…….

To be a Man of God is to be different. In today's culture, Christianity has become something 'not' Christian. You see this in our churches and in other Christians around us. Many churches have become trend followers. Churches and worldly self proclaimed christians have forgotten that being a true follower of Christ is not easy, it is not always convenient, it offends and it doesn't cater to a seeker-friendly culture at the expense of distracting from the true reason in attending church. I have personally seen churches that look and act more like a Starbucks hangout than an actual house of God. This includes worship music that isn't biblical, yet we sing it because it is on the top Christian chart. God does not need constant changing trends to attract His people. God is an unchanging God. He doesn't change to be more relevant or cooler in a culture, yet His people seem to change Him continually by reinventing a culture to appease their feelings as if God is not emotionally stimulating enough for who He is and what He has done. God wants people after His own heart, no matter what others think. As men of God, we will look rebellious and be unpopular to the world and even to church attending brothers and sisters who consider themselves a Christian yet avoid or water down the unpopular parts of scripture. If you're a person who wants to be a trendy Christian, then this journey is not for you. But if you are at a place in your life where you desire to be real with God, abide in Christ and forged by His Word, then you are a man after God's own heart. Choosing to be a follower of Christ is an eternal lifestyle, not a trend. A crowded church is not a sign of a church that followers the truth of the Bible. 


John 15:19- If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

Warriors in Prayer-Like the Wave of the Sea... A few months ago, I heard a song with a lyric that caught my attention - empty prayers. I couldn't help but think back on my prayer life. How many times had I prayed to you, God, out of obligation, going through the motion without sincerity or consideration of the honor of whom I am able to petition to? I became a man who would approach the throne of the Almighty God, offering empty prayers. I was the praying warrior tossed by the waves of James 1:6. I became resentful when always being asked to pray at events and family functions. I started slipping more and more in my prayer life, convincing myself that I wasn't gifted in prayer, so I excused myself from it.
