Warriors in Prayer Daily Breath
How important would prayer be if every single day, when your eyes open from sleep, you had 60 seconds to acknowledge God and ask for the ability to breathe for that day? If you failed to do this, you would suffocate and simply die. It's an extreme and provoking thought. Except it's not too far off from the reality of how detrimental our lives depend on God and what He has to sustain us in our daily lives. Satan loves to work alongside our fallen nature; he loves to support and help justify all the reasons and excuses for placing God on “standby” or putting Him “on hold.” Satan knows all he has to do is distract us, and we will soon forget, only to remember too late in the battle of the day. Could you imagine the feel of complete terror and desperation to run into a battle and suddenly be surrounded by the enemy, then, with complete confidence, reaching for your weapon and realizing you left it back at camp? Prayer is no different. Train your spiritual life to be solely dependent on prayer, and when you are lacking in prayer, you find your spiritual life out of breath, lacking oxygen, and quickly going to God in life-sustaining prayer. So, how do we get from waking in the morning, grabbing a cup of coffee, checking your phone, taking a shower, maybe saying a quick prayer, and heading out the door? I suggest using your phone: set your alarm to wake you, but instead of a traditional alarm sound, program it to something completely different, almost awkward and bizarre. When you hear it, say good morning to God. This is the same God who sustains you all through the night while you sleep, taking each breath without any effort on your part, and then waking to a new day. For the next 5 days pray and ask God to open your eyes and show you all that he does in giving you the opportunity to breathe Him into your daily lives.
