BE INVINCIBLE NOT VULNERABLE

Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10

It’s the verse that comes to mind for all who have experienced times in our lives when we realize we have no other options in the situations we're facing. It is then that we realize we have very little control over what happens in our lives. We can be in perfect rhythm with God, with our family work, and relationships. Everyone we care about is healthy and all seems to appear in perfect sync and we are content. Then it happens, we hit a bump or are knocked a little off balance and everything seems to spin out of control and we crash. We suddenly experience how quickly good can be stripped from us ; leaving us in a place that at times we can’t find our way out or a rhythm that we cannot seem to get back. Be still and know that I am God. Eight simple words, each word containing no more than four letters, that are put together to form the most powerful and comforting verse in the bible. Below is a crazy list of what God is saying about who He is in those eight simple words. Remind yourself in these trials that God is saying, “My child stop. Look to me, and be reminded of who I am. Find rest in my words and do not let anything distract you from them.” When we wait for something, time seems to go slowly, we can get bored or anxious causing us to do the opposite of what God tells us to do, which is to wait and glorify Him in the wait. But instead. We begin to think of other things rather than who God is. We then start justifying our actions of trying to regain control of what we gave to God. I really don't know why we do this at times and other times we don't. Waiting on God, being still, and praying can be difficult and it can be a dangerous and vulnerable place for even the most seasoned follower of Jesus. Here is a little analogy that may help what waiting on God may look like. Have you ever sat in a waiting room? It could be for an appointment, medical results, the birth of a child, or a job interview. No matter the purpose of the wait, one thing that all those things have in common is that the news that you receive will most likely impact your life in some way and until we know what that is, our life is on hold and it makes us uncomfortable and it starts the “ what if, cycle. But it doesn't have to be this way. The blessing in having a brother or sister in Christ is that you do not have to wait in that room alone. There is strength in numbers: Matthew; “where two or more gather”, Proverbs: “a cord of three strands is not easily broken”’ “ as iron sharpens iron”. I would like to encourage you in your walk in Christ to cease every trial with those eight simple words, “Be still and know I Am.” And don’t forget to bring someone along.

Is there a trial in your life that God addresses in who He is?
